Also, sticking it to heteronormativity is fun when you're gay because you get to have the kind of sex you enjoy - but if you're a straight woman, you have to fold your desires into an intellectual pretzel before you can accept them.
It's interesting to juxtapose the criticisms with Lola Young I wrote about in this article vs. the criticisms of Sabrina Carpenter for her recent album cover that's straightforwardly about heterosexual desire. I wanted to write about this in this essay but it became too complicated and I had to drop it. Pretzels indeed!
Great points here. A lot of times, when lefty art is supposed to be provocative, it only aims at safe targets. Like, a female serial killer who only targets problematic men. Or a bold takedown of the mostly white publishing industry. It’s not actually risky at all because the audience embraces it.
...or even if the audience hates it, the "right people" in the audience embrace it. If all the people who South Park took over the publishing industry and the music industry, this would likely would stop being an issue overnight.
Same!!! In the twitter post I linked to, Rae does a pretty good job defending her claim, and she admits she's making a nuanced point, but I think she just used the wrong word. "Unsexy" would have been a better choice.

I’d like to know where asexuality is in that video 😆 because I definitely don’t see it.

I just looked up the pudendal nerve. What about this would make the world a better place if more people knew about it?
I did not detect a joke, and did not expect such a rude response. Jesus christ, dude.
